Indikasi Ankle Brachial Index
Indikasi pengukuran Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) berperan dalam hal skrining, penegakan diagnosis, pedoman terapi, hingga penentuan prognosis. Pengukuran ABI biasa digunakan pada kasus peripheral artery disease (PAD).[8-25,29]
Peripheral Artery Disease
American Heart Association (AHA) merekomendasikan pemeriksaan ABI pada pasien berisiko mengalami Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), seperti klaudikasio intermiten. Kelompok pasien memiliki risiko PAD misalnya pasien usia >40 tahun, merokok, dan penderita diabetes mellitus. Sebanyak 6,5 juta orang berusia di atas 40 tahun diketahui menderita PAD berdasarkan studi di Amerika Serikat.[31,32]
Studi oleh Dachun Xu et al yang dilakukan pada 2034 pasien, mendapatkan hasil bahwa pemeriksaan ABI memiliki spesifitas sebesar 83,3–99,0% dan sensitivitas 72,1‒89,2% untuk mendiagnosis PAD.[31]
