Profilaksis prapajanan HIV atau pre-exposure prophylaxis HIV adalah pemberian obat antiretroviral atau ARV pada pasien HIV-negatif yang berisiko tinggi untuk mencegah infeksi HIV. Pre-exposure prophylaxis HIV atau PrEP merupakan metode yang sudah terbukti untuk mencegah infeksi baru HIV.
Data menunjukkan bahwa sekitar 2.000.000 infeksi baru human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) terjadi setiap tahunnya di seluruh dunia. Karena vaksin efektif untuk mencegah transmisi HIV belum tersedia, strategi pencegahan yang lain masih diperlukan. Salah satu strategi pencegahan akuisisi HIV adalah pemberian PrEP.[1-9]
Sebelum memulai pemberian PrEP HIV, dokter perlu melakukan sejumlah evaluasi. Evaluasi tersebut meliputi penilaian risiko substansial terhadap akuisisi HIV, evaluasi eligibilitas klinis untuk inisiasi PrEP, regimen inisiasi PrEP, monitoring, dan penghentian PrEP.[1,2,8-10]
